Tim Robbins (born October 16, 1958 ) is an American actor, director, producer, and writer, best known for his roles in The Shawshank Redemption and Mystic River . He is also a passionate political activist and has directed several critically acclaimed films. Early Life & Education Born in West Covina, California , and raised in New York City . His father was a musician, and his mother was an actress. Started acting in high school and later attended the UCLA Film School , where he studied drama. Acting Career Gained attention with roles in films like Bull Durham (1988) and Jacob’s Ladder (1990).
